Liebster Award!

Hannah Alexis at Wonderfully Sewn has nominated me for the new blogger's Liebster Award, or "Love Award"! She has such an adorable and uplifting outlook on life that is greatly reflected in her blog, and I encourage you to go check her out!

Liebster is a German word meaning dearest or beloved, and is an award passed along among new bloggers (under 200 followers) to promote friendships and draw new attention to each other's blogs.
Yay blog friends!

I'm thrilled to participate! Thanks Hannah! :)

Rules:

1. Link back/follow to the person who nominated you.
2. Write 11 facts about yourself once nominated.
3. Answer the eleven questions from the person who nominated you.
4. Nominate up to 11 new bloggers (200 followers or less)
5. Come up with 11 questions for the people you nominate.

Here are the questions Hannah asked her nominees:

1. What is your perfect imperfection?

Wow- this is a tough first question!! I asked Drew what he would said and he told me "Your inability to stay up past 11pm." haha!

I think my perfect imperfection would have to be how much I care for others, especially the people closest to me. I often spend so much time working my butt of to make life easier for everyone else, that I often lose focus on me and my goals and dreams.

2. What is your favorite high school memory?

I recently wrote a whole blog post about high school- complete with embarrassing photos if you are super interested.

But my favorite high school memory is probably my involvement with my church youth group and being a part of the praise team that lead worship for our Wednesday night Bible studies and mission trips. That group of young men and women were my best friends and my rock. I don't think I have any emotions more positive than the ones that I relate to praising the Lord!

3. If you could spend a day in someone else's shoes, who would it be and why?

Is it ok that I have two responses to this question?
  • My flute teacher- Dr. Francesca Arnone. Honestly, being a university level flute professor if my dream (later on in life) job. What hard. work. Good grief, the woman is a miracle worker! A studio full of overly dramatic girls (ok, that may be referring to me...), methods classes, rehearsals, meetings, flute choir, research, playing in the Waco Symphony (which is playing a concert tonight, by the way!), and just over all being a flute GODDESS....whew! A hard life, but a good one I bet!!
  • A new mom (of the stay at home variety)- this is also a (YEARS in the future) dream of mine. I'm pretty sure I could handle a tiny squishy coo-ing (ok...screaming) bundle of joy for a day, right? Maybe I should think about that one a little more....  :)

4. What's that food you always have a craving for?

TEXMEX, hands down, don't even have to think about it, basically screamed the answer as soon as I read it- YUM.

5. How would you describe your style when it comes to fashion?

All over the place ;)

I love clothes and I love feeling comfortable in my own skin. I follow trends if I like them, and if I don't, I find something else! Right now I'm loving:
  • statement necklaces
  • pants of ALL kinds (ok- I've always been a huge fan of fun pants)
  • suede
  • pastels
  • flats
  • gold
  • denim
See a few old fashion related posts here/here/here/and here!

6. What is one hobby you wish you had tried, or would like to try?

I quite often daydream about being a dancer. I think I could if I had learned at an earlier age, and have loved the few things that I have had the opportunity to learn. If I had the time- I'd be takin dance classes all over the place!

7. Why did you start blogging?

Honestly, I started blogging with a friend (a joint blog- you might remember when this blog was called PB&J) to have fun with our contrasting styles, personalities, and sizes. She is a super tall Barbie, and I'm pretty much a 12 year old. It was a nice idea, but "ain's nobody got time for that!"  :)

8. What is your favorite quote?

I'm constantly cycling through quotes that inspire me at the moment- something that gets me going or motivates me towards my current goals.

Here are a current few:

"Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable." -Cesar Cruz

"She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25

and of course "When you're sad, just remember that you don't look like you did in 6th grade."

Can I get an AMEN?!

9. What is one thing that you'd like to change in your current life? (if anything)

I think the only thing I could ask for is more time.

10.  What takes the top place on your bucket list?

Oh goodness, I have no idea! I would love to see the world-  and I'll start with moving to England in September!

11. What is the worst piece advice you have ever received?:

Probably the worst advice (in my opinion) that I have received, is to block out the world and focus solely on myself- realize that this is meant for an aspiring professional musician. It may be one way to get there, but its not me, and I will probably hardly ever put myself before the rest of the world.

11 facts:
  • I've never lived anywhere but the South!
  • I have gone to Baylor for both of my degrees
  • When I was in elementary school I decided that I was going to be a musician.
  • My twin brother has dark skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. We're basically opposites...but still look alike.
  • Not only do I love animals, but they absolutely melt my heart and soul. I can hardly handle it!!
  • I religiously look at Cat Saturday on the Chive. every. week.
  • I got accepted to NorthWestern to study the flute for my masters and ended up not going, but I don't regret it because I believe that God always has a plan. I would not be where I am today (or have met the love of my life!) if I had moved from Texas in 2011!
  • I steal my boyfriend's clothes and incorporate them into outfits...probably more often than people think. He has good taste- okay?!
  • Convinced that my dad got Winston because I moved out. I approve of your replacement, dad! ;)
  • Instead of "oh, its JCrew" my brain is normally like "oh, I got this for $4 from ____!" (no offense)
  • I'm allergic to the environment and shellfish and peanut butter. Bummer.
My nominated blogging ladies are:

Darbi at Table for One

3) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
4) If you were going to get a tattoo, what would it be?
5) If we got to spend an entire day together, what would we do?
6) Why did you start blogging?
7) What inspires you?
8) If you could spend one day in someone else's shoes, who would it be  and why?
9) If you could pursue a career in anything other than what you are doing right now, what would it be?
10) What is #1 on your bucket list? Tell me about it!
11) What is the worst piece of advice you have received?
